Privacy Policy

SHIFTS is an app for tracking shifts, estimating pay, and creating invoices. This policy explains what information SHIFTS handles, where it goes, and the choices you have. There's no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools — we don't track what you do in the app, and we never sell your information.

Your data

Stored on your device

Your roster, shift types, pay rules, clients and customers, products and prices, invoices, expenses, receipt photos, payslip entries and business details — including any bank details you add for invoices — are stored on your phone.

Your account

You need an account to use SHIFTS. Accounts are handled by Supabase, our account and cloud provider. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only what that provider shares — typically your name and email address — and never your password. If you sign up with email, Supabase stores your email address and an encrypted password.

Cloud backup

When you sign out, SHIFTS saves a private backup of your SHIFTS data — including receipt photos — to your account on Supabase, so it can be restored when you sign back in on this or another device. Only your account can access your backup, and it is permanently deleted when you delete your account.

Subscriptions

Payments are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play — SHIFTS never sees your card details. RevenueCat, our subscription provider, links your purchase to your SHIFTS account so we can check whether you're subscribed on any device.

Features that send information off your device
  • Reading shift offers with AI Optional
    If you use "Paste shift offer", the message you paste — plus today's date and the names of your clients and shift types, so it can match them — is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to pull out the shift details.
  • Reading price lists from photos Optional
    If you use "Take photo" or "Choose photo" when adding products, the photo you choose is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI to read the product names and prices.
  • Business number lookup Optional
    When you search for a client or customer by name, the name you type is sent through our server to the Australian Business Register's public ABN Lookup service.

SHIFTS asks for your agreement before it first sends anything to Anthropic. Text and photos are used only for that one request — SHIFTS doesn't store them, and Anthropic doesn't use them to train its models.

Features that stay on your device
  • Voice entry uses your device's built-in speech recognition to add a shift by voice.
  • Calendar sync, if you turn it on, writes your shifts to a calendar on your device.
  • Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device.
  • Exports — CSV, PDF timesheets, invoices and backups — are created on your device and only shared if you choose to.
Your choices

Deleting your data

Settings → Account → Reset app erases everything SHIFTS has stored on your device.

Settings → Account → Delete account (also on the subscription screen) permanently deletes your SHIFTS account — whether you signed up with email, Apple or Google — along with your cloud backup, backed-up receipt photos, and everything stored on your device. Your purchase history stays with Apple or Google as part of your App Store or Google Play account.

Children

SHIFTS isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.

Security

Information sent between SHIFTS and our providers is encrypted in transit, and your cloud backup can only be accessed by your signed-in account.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as SHIFTS changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
